…You get that sudden urge to jump into your swimming pool- and then realize that that probably would not be the best idea, as the water in the pool is only 20 degrees max.

…You go outside in hopes of finding a decent spot to build some sort of fort, and two minutes later come shivering back inside in search of some source of heat.

…Your little siblings aren’t aloud to go play in the lake- err, puddle in the backyard because it has suddenly mwarfed into an ice skating rink.

…You start planning for your dream garden in January.

*Sigh* Yesh, needless to say, I am extremely ready for spring…it just seems so dreadfully far away… *Another wishful sigh*

Relativism

Yup, that’s right folks, relativism. No, not just NORMAL relativism, but the argument of relativism in LD debate. The toughest thing to debate too, if you ask me. What the whole idea kind of boils down to is that excellence is extremely relative (duh). For example, in my case, I define excellence as a virtue. Most people argue that excellence/a virtue is relative. Say, a criminal might think that the ability to cheat convincingly is excellent, while the pastor of a church would probably (at least I would hope so) think exactly the opposite. Calvin and Hobbes kind of sums it up nicely.

(actually, whether it sums it up nicely or not, I just think it’s kind of cute) ANYWAY…since the resolution for LD debate this year is that “Competition is superior to Cooperation as a means of achieving EXCELLENCE”, when you go affirmative and the negative runs that argument, it is an extremely hard to refute…because excellence kind of IS relative…so if anyone has any good ideas for what to argue against that, let me know ASAP. :)

The wonders of picnic…

…actually, I used picnic even before Beth did.  I just wanted to post about something to keep ya’ll happy for another month or so.  Naw…I’ll post before then, not to worry. :)   Anywho, with the exception of those annoying smudges at the bottom of the picture, I rather like it.  I think Toni took it with our 3 mega-pixal camera maybe three years ago and I found it on my computer…so I decided to do something to it, it just looked so lonely… ;)

Random Ramblings…

*gasp* I haven’t posted in- *counts* five whole days!!  You know, I am seriously contemplating naming this blog “Random Ramblings” and just have every post like this…it’s a lot easier to sit down and write random stuff then it is to sit down and write something that has value or meaning.  That is to say…more value and meaning then something like “I need to work on debate”.  Let the randomness begin.

  • I cleaned the entire house all by myself today.  Cause everyone was gone at basketball games and I didn’t ’specially want to go. :P
  • I think that in upward basketball, they should totally keep score and say if there is a winner or loser.  I mean, if you don’t, it takes away all motives to achieve excellence!!  I mean, after all, it IS competition that motivates us to achieve excellence…oh wow, I think I seriously have been thinking to hard on this.  Not working, thinking mind you.
  • Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, (the movie, not the book) is really weird.  It’s got a few funny parts, but, other than that, it’s just…blah.  Kinda’ weird.
  • I haven’t practiced violin in like, for ever…
  • Same thing goes for mandolin.  (Read the above)
  • “Hot Air Balloon” by Owl City is a real neat song.  The lyrics are…interesting, to say the least, but I mean, the basic song is really cool.  Almost as good as “Fireflies”.  :)
  • My nano’s name is Lewis.  He looks like a Lewis.
  • I have decided to call our friend back from CA that visited us last week, (Danielle) “Denny” cause that is just ever so cute of a name… :)
  • I love chocolate chip cookies.
  • That little 20 questions electronic game can get kind of creepy…like it knows something…
  • Dr. Pepper out of a bottle from the cutest little candy shop you ever say somehow tastes ever so much better than out of a can.
  • I want to buy a nice camera.
  • I’ve got like, 50 cards (yeah, some of them are doubled up…) for just one category in my Apologetics box…then I have like, 30 others.  Maybe I should do something about that. :P
  • I’m starting to like “Tenth Avenue North”.
  • Beth’s listening to this song right now…and…I like it, but I really don’t like the guy’s voice…I have no idea who’s singing it…maybe Jeremy Camp…all I know is that it’s starting to annoy me…the song is cool…but the guy…oh, well, he’s not so bad after all. :)

I was awarded!

Yeah, so…I was awarded.  Thanks Laura!!  Ye’ are a great friend.  :D

7-  I don’t like bluebonnets.  They’re the Texas State flower, and I don’t like them.  So there.

**gasps for breath** I did it!!  I made it to seven!!!  Oh, shoot.  Now I’ve got to think up seven good blogging friends that actually post awards. :-/  Oh, if I didn’t award you, it’s not that your not a “good blogging friend” it’s that I simply didn’t think.  :-/

I award… Anna, Hailey, Taylor, Emma, Alison, Amy, and, and…I WOULD award some guy, maybe Alex except this is kind of a girly award.  Sorry, guys.   Um, uh, uh, um, um, uh, um, uh, um, uh, um, um, uh, um, um, um, uh, uh, um, um, um, um, um, uh…I give up.  If you want an award, just leave a comment and I shall deem thee worthy.  There.  ;)

Hello, 2010.

…And so long, 2009.   I hate to see you go, you really have been a wonderful year.  Let’s hope this new one will be just as good and maybe even better. 2009, looks like you’ve got yourself some competition.  ;)

Cool stuff thats happened or that I’ve learned over the past year:

-Music is really wonderfully and totally awesome.  Beth and Toni and I have continued to play music places (though Toni doesn’t do it a lot anymore, since she’s got herself a job) such as the library (why the library?  Don’t ask me.)  bible studies, etc.  It’s been fun. :D  I also got to write a song for our annual Chamber Music Festival earlier this year.  That was cool.    Then…we attended FASA (Fine Arts Summer Academy) in July…I learned…like…a lot.  Ooh!  Yeaaah!  Remember that music competition Me n’ Beth are doing with Josh and Aaron U.?  Well, we’ve finally found ourselves a name.  *drumroll*  Highway 71.  I know, cool right? :D

-NCFCA.  IS.  AWESOME.  Thats right, Amy, I did indeed just say that.  Speech and debate over-all, is just plain cool.  Wow.  Though like, when we see old friends, they all know that Beth does speech and debate and talk about it with her.  Nobody knows that I, too, am in speech and debate.  Actually, they just kind of skip me, and ask Hannah if she’s doing it, too.  To which she promptly replies with a long speech about what fun it is.  While here I am, wondering if they will remember that I exist.  Oh well.  As the great Jedidiah (Night At The Museum 2) once stated, “I’d just like to squander in self-pity.”  Jedidiah, I totally sympathize with you.  Tis great fun to “squander in self-pity,” actually.

Wow…I just realized…that…those are basically the only two things ever going on in our life.  Kinda weird.  Well, I think I already said all the other little things going on in my other recent posts, so…g’bye.  Last post this year.  Wow.

OH WAIT!!  This is the most exasperating thing ever.  So….we have a package waiting for us at the post office.  Most likely my ipod.  So my mom drove down there today to go pick it up…and…it was closed.  It’ll be closed tomorrow, too.  Of course.  And I could’ve had it tonight when we go to the C.’s party!!!  Quite sad, if you ask me.  Oh well. :P

OH WAIT AGAIN!!  I finally finished reading Thr3e, (Ted Dekker) and it was cool.  I watched the movie for it today, and I decided that I like the book much better.  Just so you know.  ;)

Okay, I’m done.

ipod nano

Wow…I just bought an ipod nano on ebay.  I am still in shock from spending that much money in less than five minutes.  Yikes.  Anywho, it’s a 5th generation as you can see from the pic, so…it’s cool.  I wanted to get a blue one or lime green or red or something cool like that, but…this was the best deal we could find, and it didn’t have cool colors. :(  Oh well, I think I’ll manage.  ;)

I just wanted to inform ya’ll of the brilliant fact that another hat has just been added to my collection.  It might be my new favorite.  I bet you are just brimming with anticipation, right?  Actually, you probably aren’t because there is a picture right underneath this text that you have probably already seen because you were just to full of anticipation that you just HAD to skip reading this and just went to see the picture… *sigh* What has the world come to?Yeah…I also got another black one, and a brown one.  They are different styles, though.  I also got two new scarfs to add to my OTHER collection.  One is hot pink (I know, I don’t ’specially like pink, but I like the scarf anyhow) and the other ish red.  I like red.  :D

Ooh!  I got a case for my mandolin finally!!!! One more thing off my list of things I need- er, WANT to buy.   Now I can start saving for my laptop, ipod nano, and electric guitar.  Not that my mom will LET me get an electric guitar…I just like the thought of it getting one. :D

Just so everyone knows…I also got rosin (y’know, stuff for a violin bow) for Christmas.  Thats nice, I just LAWF practical presents.  I just didn’t expect to get it for Christmas. ;)

Okay, I’m done rambling, now.

~Katy

…Making up random hair-do’s such as these.  BTW- yes, they ARE supposed to be weird.

In the picture above, Patti has got three pony-tails on the sides of her head, and then one on top.  But you can’t really see it because of the bad quality of the camera… I ran out of “creative” ideas for bizarre hair-do’s right after…oh, say…the first one. :-/

The End. ;)

Okay…what’s been going on around here…well, actually a lot has been going on.  I just didn’t feel like posting about them.

Have I said anything about our orchestra concert???  I don’t remember if I did…but it was fun. :)

So on the thirteenth, we hosted our anual ARC Christmas party.  Amy, Alison, I can’t even express how exciting and fun it was.  And it was a speech and debate thing!!  See?  Speech and debate can INDEED be fun. ;)   Unfortunetly, I don’t really have any pictures to post… :( *can’t wait until she finds a way to get her camera un-stuck from inside the wall of the car*

Then…we did a music night type of thing on someday that I forgot.  But it was fun.  They made me ‘n Hannah sing “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer” …and it was…interesting. :)   But the other “acts” and songs were cool. ;)

Alas, Hope has been bidden to say farewell to us, and had to leave after her three week visit.  We shall miss her greatly.

We are having a Christmas party for the Woodland’s (a retirement thing where my dad works) residents.  Kind of odd having a bunch of people over to your house that you don’t know hug you and say random stuff…and then you just nod and smile and throw out an occasional “good to see you again” or “glad you could come” or, or…well, what ever you say, they like it. ;)

Wow…I haven’t posted in…forever…well, this was my post. Hope you are happy now.
